Parkersburg Des Moines Tornado

   

Back in May 25th of 2008 a small town in Iowa was hit with a natural disaster. Parkersburg, near Des Moines IA,  was nearly wiped off the map. Many people feared for their lives that day.

The tornado that hit Parkersburg that day, was an EF5. An EF5 is one of the strongest tornadoes that can happen. A tornado this strong has winds over 200 mph. This tornado destroyed many homes, business buildings and the school gym. Seven people lost their lives that day from the EF5 tornado and 70 more were injured. Those who survived were evacuated while rescue and cleanup crews tried to help.

Since that day, the people of Parkersburg have helped each other out. They have been able to fix the school gym and rebuild their homes and businesses.  This is a day they will never forget.

conclusion on plant

I think my experiment was a success.

i think it was a success because my plant didn't die. I had 40 seeds and my partner has 127 seeds. Our plants grew really good. Once the plants were dead    
the class pulled their own plants off the water and put it on a dry tub. they pulled their plants off because, so the plants could dry out and we can pull the seeds out.

34 day of plants

   today i counted the seeds and i have 10 seeds. i took the plant off the water so it can die and i can open the seed holders and see how many  seeds are in them.

Today my plants look  ike they are dead. But some of the plant have flowers. But other way they're dead.

 Today I pollinated my plant. My tallest plant is 7 inches.i have a lot of flowers on my plants.

  Today my tallest plant was 2 inches.  i have 14 leaves all together.

 Today i pulled the plants out from the sells and left one plant in each sell. That is what i did for science today. It was really fun, I acedently ripped a few but it didn't really matter because i threw the ones that i ripped away.

three big bucks

    Three Big Bucks

            Once upon a time there were three big bucks. One day the buck’s mom told them they had to leave and live on their own. The bucks went to a field to build their houses. The first buck built its house out of sticks and mud. The second buck built its house out of hay and string. The third buck built his house out of brick and cement. But what they didn’t know is that they built their house in a farmer’s field.

            The next thing they knew, the farmer came out to plant crop and saw that there were houses in his field. He was so mad!! So the farmer went back into his house to get a torch to burn the houses down.

            He knocked on the first buck’s door and screamed “move away or I’ll burn your house down”.

            The buck said “NO! I was here first”!

            The farmer yelled “NO you weren’t! I was! I live here”.

            “oh, sorry I didn’t know” said the buck scared.

            “You have to move or I will burn your house down” said the farmer.

            “But I don’t want to move”, said the buck.

            “Then I will burn your house down to the ground”! yelled the farmer.  And that’s what he did.

            The first buck ran over to his brother’s house

            So the farmer went back to planting his crop and then ran into another house. So he walked over to the house and knocked on the door and the second buck answered the door scared because his brother told him what the farmer did to his house. The farmer asked “move away or I’ll burn your house down”!

            The buck said “I’ll move away because I don’t want my house burned down”.

            “But I have to burn your house down because it is in my way of planting” said the farmer.

            And the two bucks ran to their brother’s house and told him what happened. The farmer walked over to the third buck’s house and knocked on the buck’s door. The buck answered the door. The farmer said “, move or I’ll burn your house down just like I did with your brother’s houses”.

            The buck said you can’t burn my house down its made out of brick and cement. “oooh” said the farmer. “Sorry if I threated you. You can live here if you want but please don’t eat my crop or you will have to leave said the farmer.

            “We won’t eat your crops unless you say we can” said the bucks at the same time.

            But what the buck didn’t no is that the farmer was playing a trick on them. Three years later the farmer and his friend hunted the bucks. After they hunted the bucks the farmer had three buck heads mounted on his wall. And he lived happily ever after.

            

Andrew tournament

 i said that i would tell you the scores but i forgot. But i can tell you that my team won the championship game it was the first championship we have won so we were very happy and so was our couch. we were also happy because it was the last tournament of the season and we won! I made 5 points out of the whole tournament i was pretty happy but if i got the ball past to me more i think that i could of scored more points.  the reason i didn't score so many points was because our point guard dribbled the ball with his head down. And that is how the tournament went.

Andrew tournament

  Today an tomorrow I have a tournament in Andrew. If we win the first few games in a row we get into the championship. I hope we do good because it is the teams the tournament of the year. My team has won one championship game in the hole season so hope me good luck. Today after the games i will tell you the scores for today and tomorrow.

FFA ski trip

Last Saturday I went snowboarding with FFA members. It was fun because some of the sophomores fell down. it was also fun because the sophomores, jrs ,and my brother Brandon and I hit the jumps. I whipped out on a jump and it kind of hurt. But I got up and the next time we came down hit it again and landed it. I was really happy when I landed it.

    then I went inside and warmed up and ate. After I was done eating I went down turkey with every one else. I hit the rails on turkey Ridge and the jumps it was fun. then I had to go home because it was getting late.

basketball tournament

This Saturday I have a basketball tournament in Cascade. I hope we do good and win at least one or two games. If we do our coach will be happy and so will my team. My hole team will be there and three or four teammates will be sitting out for a few games. three or four teammates will be sitting out because our coach does not want to rotate 12 kids in and out of the game.
